Answers:
hi there!. sickle cell disease is highly hereditary!. there's no other way of having it but through familial tendencies and genes!. the only way to find out if the twins will have it is through diagnostic tests while the twins are inside the womb!.
Yes, there are diagnostic tests which will be recommended by the ob-gyne!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

None!
Unless your nephew has the trait!.
They twins will have the trait and the trait means that they can pass on the genes when they reproduce!.
Each parent passes on a gene which will total 2 from each
The girlfriend = SS= sickle cell anemia
she can only give and S gene
The nephew = NN = "normal"!.
He can only give an N gene
SS+ NN can only = SN the trait
If your nephew has the trait
Nephew = SN the trait
once again the girlfriend = SS sickle cell anemia
Then the chances are
SS sickle cell anemia 50 %
SN sickle cell trait 50%
But I believe your nephew would already know if he had the trait
so the twins would only have the trait!.
This is not the real genetic code but it is so you would understand!.
Remember I took one gene from each parent to get the answer!.
I have a biology degree and I am 40 old with sickle cell anemiaWww@Answer-Health@Com
