Hypoglycemia or not eating enough?!

Question: Hypoglycemia or not eating enough!?
I think I have Hypoglycemiam, but my mom thinks I'm not eating enough, for the amount of working out I do!.

I swim twice a day for six times a week!. Burning 4,000-6,000 calories each pratice!.

I'm not a big fan of eating, but I do eat,
I'll have a whole-wheat english muffin, banana after I swim in the morning!.
And it depends on how late I eat lunch but usally by 12ish, I start to get shakey, light-headed, headaches, really hunger, ect!. and then I'll have lunch- a ham sandwhich on wheat bread!. And I'm fine until about two- where I have a small snack before I swim, then I come home after swim and eat another small snack so I won't pass out, and for dinner I usally have lean meat, and a veggie!. But my mom says on average I eat about 2,000 calories a day!. But I still think I have Hypoglycemia, because I have all the symptons when I don't eat!. My mom doesn't want me to take a blood test because of the cost!. Should I still talk to my doctor about this!? Thanks! :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

After I read your description, my first thought was that you probably do have hypoglycemia, and you probably should eat more!. If you really want to know what your blood sugar is doing, see if you can find a friend who uses a glucometer and ask if you can borrow it!. (Or get your own if your mom is okay with that!.) Test it at different times: once before breakfast, once when you feel shaky/light-headed/head-achy, and maybe once some other time of day when you feel just fine!. When you test it, be sure to note how long it has been since you have eaten, and what you ate!.

Here is my opinion on what you should do!. Eat more frequently: carry snacks with you and eat when you are hungry!. What kinds of snacks do you usually eat!? Sugary snacks are not good if you have hypoglycemia!. Observe how different types of sugar have an effect on you!. (I get a headache from large amounts of any kind of sugar except milk sugars!.) Eat snacks high in protein and/or healthy fats for the most stable blood sugar!. I highly recommend nuts and sunflower seeds!. When you want fruit, you might try eating it along with a high-protein/fat food for balance!. Most likely, you don't have to worry about a little sugar right after swimming, since your body is burning it right away!. Experiment to see what works!. Feeling well is the most important!.

I wish you the best of luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

i'm hypoglycemic (low blood sugar)!.

i find that if i eat more protein and complex carbs i don't get shaky!.

i have peanut butter on 12 grain bread in the morning, and i have a soy protein shake in the afternoon !. works really well!.

good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It looks like you are burning mored calories than you consume!. This can be dangerous!. you need more protein!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The symptoms you describe do sound like hypoglycemia!.

The trick to managing this problem is to eat small meals more often!. They should include protein, and complex carbohydrates that break down in your system slower!. This combats the 'ups and downs' (fluctuation) of your available blood sugar!.

It does sound as though you may not be eating enough!. However, if you are not losing weight, that may not be the case!.

Hypoglycemia can be a challenging health problem, but one that is easily manageable with planning and forethought!.

Talk to your coach about complex carbohydrates and proteins !. Find a few that are easy to 'grab and go' and pack the most nutrition into small amounts of food!.

Simplicity is key when you are a busy athlete!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
