Eat with Doxycycline?!

Question: Eat with Doxycycline!?
I've read in many places that I can eat with Doxycycline, but the paper I got with the prescription from the pharmacy says I should take it on an empty stomach!.

Also, is milk okay to drink with it, because it just says that you can't take medication with iron, calcium, magnesium, etc!.

And how strong is Doxycycline, along with Retin-A for treating acne!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
You should try your best to avoid eating with doxycycline, but if absolutely necessary, you could try and eat a small piece of bread or a few crackers with the medicine!. If you can tolerate it, though, try and take it on an empty stomach - this increases its absorption in the intestine!.

Importantly, you should NOT drink milk with the medicine (milk contains a fair amount of calcium!) or take any antacids (including those containing calcium, like Tums, or magnesium, like some antacid liquids) or iron with the pill!.

The presence of divalent cations (Ca++, Mg++, Fe++) significantly decreases absorption of doxycycline!.

As far as its strength, that's not really possible to answer!. Antibiotics don't have a strength - they have a spectrum of activity (that is to say, the proper antibiotic is determined based on what bacteria need to be eliminated and what those bacteria are sensitive to)!. With that said, doxycycline is a tried-and-true medication for the treatment of acne!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

One of the most common ways of treating acne is the use of retinoids!. Retinoids are substances derived from Vitamin A, which attempt to cure acne by normalizing the lifecycle of follicle cells!. There are two types of such substances, based on application: external (topical) and oral!. The best known external retinoids are Retin-A, Differin and Tazorac, while the oral retinoids list is headed by the popular Accutane!.

However, about one quarter of the patients who used Accutane or other drugs based on isotretinoin may relapse and require additional treatment!.

But the biggest drawback of retinoids is the long list of side effects, which sometimes makes retinoids look like a disease rather than a cure!.

The most common side effects are dry skin and nosebleeds!. Many patients have also reported liver problems, while a few complained of depression!. However, the scientific community is still split on the issue of depression!. More seriously, isotretinoin is known to cause birth defects, which is why female patients have to use two separate forms of birth control or vow abstinence during the treatment!. Pregnant women are not allowed to use anything but the mildest treatments!.

The bottom line is that retinoids are a good idea if one can cope with the side effects!. This begs the question: why not use something just as effective, but without the side effects!. Acne treatment systems, such as ClearPores: http://www!.clearpores!.com/clicks/clickth!.!.!. are also popular because of their success in dealing with the condition, but lack the extreme side that makes retinoids a pain to use!. The choice between these treatments is yours!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can eat with Doxycycline, just do not take milk with it or any vitamins you might take also!.

Doxycycline is a very strong medicine and will clear your acne up!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
