Toddler with type 1, does this make sense to anyone...?!

Question: Toddler with type 1, does this make sense to anyone!.!.!.!?
My daughter is 2 1/2 recently diagnosed Type 1!. She's coming out of her honeymoon and I've been struggling to keep up with it!. I think I'm finally there though!. My question is this, her blood glucose has been 200+ for the last couple weeks!. Now when she's in range (between 100 and 200) she is SUPER cranky!. Is it possible that she got comfortable and used to that 200+ range!? Do you think it's possible since she's now in range, that she's feeling it as "low" and that's why she's so cranky!? Thanks for any oppinions on this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Yes, it's possible to feel hypoglycemic effects even in the normal ranges when you've been used to running at higher numbers!. It will pass within a few weeks!. As long as you've checked her BG and it's normal, don't try to raise it if she's in a bad mood, just live with it for now!. I went through the same thing years ago when I tried to tighten my control!.!.!.anything under 120 and I felt shaky!Www@Answer-Health@Com

2 1/2 year olds are sometimes cranky because of their age but throw in Diabetes and you can have some dozzies! I do think that having sugars in the 200's and then in the 100-200 can make a person cranky temp!. she should get used to it over the next week or so!. Hang in there and keep up the good work!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am type 2 with hypothyroidism (which causes all sorts of other mood issues) but around 113-120 I start getting all cranky!. Actually, at 113 I start feeling weak and shaky, too!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

That is very possible!. Often when people are diabetic, if they dip below their normal high (even though it still may be considered high for a normal perosn), they may have some symptoms!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Completely!! The two kids I babysit have been Type 1s since they were about 3 years old!. They are 5 and 7 now, and I quite vividly remember them coming off of their honeymoon periods!. The first one wasn't too terribly bad, just some crankiness here and there, but the 5 year old was a complete nightmare! She was combative, disobedient, and the slightest thing could send her into a temper tantrum that could last for hours! We asked her doctor about it, and he said it would eventually level out as her body adjusted!. My boyfriend was diagnosed when he was 12 as Type 1, and he said the feeling of coming off his honeymoon was rough!. He was so used to being in the 2 and 300 ranges, 100s felt like he was going hypo!. It's completely normal, but you just have to hang in there! Eventually her body will get used to it, and the crankiness will end!. (well, as far as a two year old is concerned ;-) ) If it gets much worse, call her doctor! Good luck to the both of you!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
