I have gotten poision ivy every single year for my entire life!. It's been so bad I woke up some mornings and couldn't see, because my face was so swollen!.

The only things that will really help is calomine lotion applied liberally to the infected areas!. Aveeno oatmeal baths are very soothing to your itchy skin!. With my most recent bout of poision ivy I took a lot of Benedryl, but only at night because it makes you sleepy and it helps with the itch!. The only other thing that will cure it, is time, it takes quite a while to leave!.

Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

i have gotten poison ivy before and i went to the doctor to help stop infection for it!.DO not try new things when in comes to getting poison ivy dont try every remedie u see because this can somtimes cause hives this happened to me and it was terrible!.Just remember it will clear up sooner then later and just stick to the basics such as calamine lotion and alcholhol!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I've never had poison ivy myself (knock wood ;) but someone mentioned calamine lotion and my aunt had said that helped the itching too!. For mosquito bites, I use aveeno (colloidal oatmeal) cream that has calamine lotion in the mixture but not sure that it's the same potency of regular calamine!. Hoping that you get some relief soon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ask your local pharmacy about special soaps to get rid of the oil from the plant!. The oil is what causes the reaction!.
Be sure to clean or dispose of any clothing/shoes that have come into contact with the poison ivy!. The oil on those items can cause another reaction even months after the initial contact!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

This is the first time I've heard of this steroid shot!.

What you need to do is keep Calamine lotion and rubbing alcohol on the rash to make it dry up!. Also, I understand oatmeal baths are supposed to be good for easing the itch!. I've never tried it myself, but it is worth a shot!.

Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

get yourself a box of oatmeal ( NOT INSTANT)!.!.!.place 1-2 cups in a bath of warm water, stir it until the water turns milky and soak for about 1 hour, this should take the itchiness away!. Good luck sweety! = )Www@Answer-Health@Com
