Is Lipitor safe to use long term?!

Question: Is Lipitor safe to use long term!?
I had high Cholesterol, tried the diets, didnt work so Doctor put me on 20mg Lipitor, that worked well, it still is, I have been on it for two years now with no sideaffects I think, I mean I am 50 and wake up with aches and pains anyway, what I would like to know is if staying on it for the rest of my life is safe or not, is it a safe drug!? My Doctor says it is and says would you rather have a Heart Attack!. My levels are now below normal do I need to stay on it!? I'm confused because I read a lot of bad things about it, but what choice do I have!? What do you think!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

My mom stopped taking it (I forget why) and says she will not get back on it!.

My uncle took it (70 y!.o) and he had some major stuff going on!. After a while he had some very strange foot sensitivity!. I'm not sure of the details, but can get them if you want me to!. Anyway, he got off of it, and those leg and foot problems went away!. He drove far to a specialist about the foot/leg thing!. He is VERY active and it really had him worried!. He was having to wear a sock on one foot because if something touched it wrong it really hurt!. Anyway, he is back to his normal self!.

I remember joking with him while he was on Lipitor!. He pulled the ice-cream out of the freezer late one night and joked that "I had my Lipitor today"!. We laughed at the time, not knowing what was to follow!. I'm glad he's better now!.

I think since everyone has a different make up, it is very individual!. But I'd watch for any new symptoms of anything, no matter how bizzare, and always try to kinda keep that in question!.

It is _sometimes preferable_ to take this drug indefinately!. I suggest that you listen to your doctor!. Plenty of people are taking statins right now!. Lowering your cholesterol also reduces your chances of developing a type-2 diabetes, and other traumatic conditions that can results from plaque such as strokes, etc!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
