Hi!! I have suffered for colesores over the last 28 years!.

Unfortunately now the sore is out, there isn't a lot you can do apart from avoiding airconditioning, cold and windy conditions and keeping the area as dry as possible!.

Not sure what cream you are using but try to get Zorivax or they now have cheaper versions for around $8 that has the same active ingredients as Zorivax!. I have found this is the best cream after they have come out, apply every few hours and hopefully it will go away within a few days!. Its best to treat as early as possible!.

I have tried alot of different home remedies (alum, perfume, ice, tea tree oil) but found Zorivax creak to be the best method!. If you like, you can try some egg white!. It will create a barrier over it (can be a little tricky, apply with a cotton bud or dab it on with a cotton pad) and then leave it to dry!. It acts as an astringent and will dry it out!.

I normally take L-Lysine which is an amino acid that your body normally produces!. (You can buy these from the chemist too from the vitamin section) !. In people who have the Herpes A virus in their body, once the lysine levels drop, the virus attacks or so a natropath explained to me!. I take 500mg (2 tablets) a day to keep my levels up and should I get a colesore (generally after stressful events), I take 6 to give my body a boost and I have found this to be beneficial!.

Taking these should also take away some of the discomfort of them however if the pain persists, take some panadol/paracetamol!.

They are highly contagious for anyone who has the virus lament in their body so no kissing or contact to soft tissue areas, especially near babies or little ones!. Wash your hands and be careful also with spreading it to your toothbrush, face washers, towels etc

There is also a new gadget on the market that uses heat to eliminate the tingling sensation, should you find you start to get them frequently!. Its around $40 AU!.

Good luck, I hope one day they find a cure for them once and for all!.

Felicity

P!.S!. Whatever you do, do NOT try to bust it!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

"Most cold sores heal on their own!. But, you can manage your symptoms at home by:

Placing a cool, wet towel on the sores 3 times a day for 20 minutes each time to help reduce redness and swelling!.
Taking ibuprofen (such as Advil or Motrin) or acetaminophen (such as Tylenol) to reduce pain!. Do not give aspirin to anyone younger than 20 because of its link to Reye's syndrome!.

Using a mouth rinse that has baking soda to soothe a sore mouth!.

Avoiding foods that contain acid (such as citrus fruits and tomatoes)!.
Using nonprescription ointments (such as Orajel or Anbesol) that numb sore areas in the mouth or on the lips!.

You can reduce the frequency of cold sore outbreaks by taking the following steps:

Avoid prolonged exposure of your lips to sunlight!. (Wear a hat to help shade your mouth!.)

Avoid intimate contact (such as kissing) with people who have cold sores or genital herpes!.
Use sunscreen at all times on your lips (in a lip balm form) and face, especially in the areas where you tend to have cold sores!.
Avoid foods that seem to cause your cold sores to recur!.
Avoid sharing towels, razors, silverware, toothbrushes, or other objects that a person with a cold sore may have used!.

These measures may help prevent the spread of cold sores in children:

Encourage frequent hand-washing!.
Do not let children share toys that other children put in their mouths!.
Clean toys occasionally with a disinfectant!.
If children have open or weeping cold sore blisters, keep them home until the blisters begin to scab over!.
Do not let children kiss each other while they have cold sores or uncontrollable drooling!.
Use gloves to apply medicated ointment to a child's cold sores!. "Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi

I got my cold sore off of my MIL, the "B"!. I never had or knew anything about cold sores until I got one from her after she had kissed me once for my birthday many, many years ago!.
Get some Zovirax Cold Sore Cream, the small tube, you don't need much!.
It's too late now but this will help it clearer it up quick!.
The best time to apply it is when you feel that tingly feeling and most times when you get it at that stage, the cold sore will not appear!.

leave it alone and dont mess with it!. you can go to the doctor and they can prescribe you some stuff to help!. I just want to let you know that cold sores are the herpres virus!. HSV-1 is cold sores and HSV-2 is genital herpes!. So make sure to not kiss anyone or perform oral because it is very contagious!Www@Answer-Health@Com

This is the best way, use mens after shave put it on soon as you feel it coming up or if you have one it stops it in its tracks!. Put it on tissue and dab it on through out the day when yah sitting at computer or TV keep applying it!. It works for me best!. Also keep relaxed stress can bring it on!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
