Question: Does anyone know of any cases in which a male with cystic fibrosis has gotten a woman pregnant!?
I know that 95% of all males with this genetic disorder are infertile!. But I was wondering if anyone knows of a case where a male with CF has actually gotten a woman pregnant!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
It's actually closer to 97%!. The gene mutation that causes cystic fibrosis is on the seventh chromosome!. At the same spot, there is a gene that causes congenital lack of vas deferens!.
What that means is they don't have the plumbing to get the sperm out!. They do have sperm, it just can't go any place!.
A male with CF can undergo a surgical procedure to harvest sperm from the testicle!. It's expensive and painful, but it can be done!. Then the spouse can be inseminated!.
So, yes, they can get a woman pregnant, with help!.

However, if you are in a relationship with a man with CF, don't rely on this as birth control!.!.!.!.use something!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't know of a man with CF becoming a father, but I do know of a 35-year-old woman who had CF becoming a mother, carrying the pregnancy to term, and delivering her twins as healthy babies!. The mother had such a bad case of CF, however, that she died when the twins were four years old!. She was a real trouper!. Her doctors had advised her not to become pregnant, but she wanted babies so badly she went ahead!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is very rare for men with CF to impregnate their mates!. IVF is usually needed to succeed with fertilization!. However, it is necessary to remind you of the risk of passing on the gene for CF and if the mother has a recessive gene the child will also have CF!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

He may be in the 5%!. I do not whether to hiss or boo!. A true dilemma!. But will the child have a greater chance for the disorder!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
