Answers:
Because you get a lot of iron from red meat, and now you have excluded that from your diet, you are now low on iron and it has made you anemic!. Symptoms include weakness, rapid heart rate, sleeping more, pica (craving odd things, or chewing ice!.!.!.)!. What you should do is add things high in iron back to your diet like raisins, spinich!.!.!.cook with a cast iron skillet!.!.!.it helps!.!.!.or take an iron supplement once a day!.!.!.you can get them over the counter!. like slow-fe at walmart!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The reason you have iron deficiency after dropping meat from your diet is probably that you are just not eating enough iron-rich plant foods!. Meat is a good source of iron, and the iron in meat is also more easily absorbed into the body than that found in plant foods!.
You can still get all the iron you need without eating meat, just make sure you eat the right foods!. Soy beans, lentils, spinach, tofu, beans, and fortified cereals (make sure you read the nutrional information) are some examples of iron-rich foods!. Vitamin C also helps the body absorb iron, so make sure you're getting enough of that!. If you're still deficient, try iron supplements!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The same thing happened to me!. Meat is the most important source of iron in most people's diets, I think!. When I became a vegetarian, I just cut out meat from my diet, but didn't give a lot of thought to replacing it with anything in particular!. I felt fine, so I didn't worry about it!. But my deficient diet caught up with me eventually, and I became so anemic that I got dizzy just walking around, and I had to pause halfway up a flight of stairs to rest!. Not normal at 20! I also had a weird urge to eat road salt, which I didn't associate with anemia at the time, but I later learned that this urge to eat strange, non-food things is called "pica" and it is another symptom of anemia!.

My suggestion to you is that you start taking iron suppements immediately to help build your body's iron stores back up!. Then take a good look at your diet and think about where your nutrients are coming from and make some adjustments!. Vegetarians are particularly vulnerable to iron and B vitamin deficiencies, in addition to having to pay attention to where their protein is coming from!.

Anyway, it's doable!. Being anemic is not an automatic side effect of being a vegetarian - it's what happens when you're a vegetarian with a bad diet!. I've been able to avoid it ever since that episode 10 years ago, so you should be able to as well!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
