I think I have rabies from a cat scratch?!

Question: I think I have rabies from a cat scratch!?
Hello, I am in desperate need of help!. I'm extremely worried that I might have rabies, but I'm usually the one to jump to conclusions fast!.

Alright, we have a cat named Buzz!. It was originally my neighbors cat, whether they had it vaccinated is beyond me!. Anyhow, Buzz went missing for a week!. We figured he was locked in someone's shed while they were on vacation or something, it's summer!. The day after he comes home, I'm sitting on my bed and I'm playing with him!. He gets annoyed, scratches my nose, and leaves!. I bleed, I run to the bathroom for tissue paper, I wipe my nose!. The next night I tell my dad and he brings up the theory that he might have rabies!. The cat looked completely fine when he came home, though he was a bit skinnier!. That was all!. I really need someone's advice, I'm veryyyy worried that he might have rabies and that I now have it!.
Today he looked fine, and it's been about 1 and a half weeks since he came home!. I need advice :(Www@Answer-Health@Com

Calm down!. It's very unusual to get rabies from anything other than a bite:

Get your cat vaccinated or keep him in the house and you won't have anything to worry about!. Talk to the vet!. I'm not sure if they will have a test to see if the cat's vaccinated!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Since Dad thought he might have rabies, why didn't he take you to the ER instead of scaring you!? Rabies are carried by saliva in a bite, not in the nails from a scratch!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

your dad was probably just messing with youWww@Answer-Health@Com

It's very unlikely that you have rabies!. Tamed cats do not get rabies after vanishing for a week; plus, you would pretty much be able to tell of it did (excessive drooling, violent behavior, problems eating, etc!. - it would be obvious)

Second, it's harder to get rabies from a scratch, as rabies is a disease transmitted through saliva!. The cat would already have to have rabies, recently licked his nails, then scratch you with traces of its saliva being transferred into your body from the open wound of your scratch!.

There's a million other things i could say, but in summation: it's very unlikely that you have rabies!. If you don't trust me, you could always go to your doctor and get a shot!.

You don't explain why you failed to vaccinate the cat!. Prior owners may not have, but you took the cat in, let it get lost, annoy it, yet you never took it to the vet to get its shots- this does not make sense in light of your unrealistic phobia about contracting rabies!. You have no symptoms of rabies, there has not been a reported case of a human contracting rabies from a cat in decades, yet you've decided that your poor neglected cat has harmed you!. Well, how they decide if an unvaccinated animal has rabies is by euthanizing it and then performing an autopsy on the head!. Sad fate for your neglected cat!. There might be things wrong with you, but rabies is not one of them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
