Baby oil or lotion on child in BMT isolation?!

Question: Baby oil or lotion on child in BMT isolation!?
Is it an infection risk to apply baby lotion or baby oil to a child's skin while they're in complete isolation!? Or would the hospital provide sterile products to use on dry skin caused by the conditioning regimens!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

When my baby had a BMT I used Baby Magic on him!. His butt got burned badly by the chemo and we used thick coatings of Desitin on it!. The nurses should be able to get you what you need!. The best thing you can do for your child is to limit visitors during BMT!. Family members don't understand and might even get angry, but stick to your guns-be like a mama lion with her cub!. It is life & death-hurt feelings will have to be gotten over!. Email me if you have any other BMT questions!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If they are in complete isolation, I would consult the attending doctor or a nurse first!. Usually, it is not a problem!. However, depending on the condition of and reason for the child being placed in isolation, it may cause complications that are undesirable!. The hospital should be able to tell you which ones are ok to use and usually provide you with lotions and such upon request!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Its not really that it needs to be steril, but it needs to be hypoallergenic, dye and scent free!.

I used my own lotions during my transplant!. I used some goop that was a perscription, I think it was some type of eucerin cream, and I used a type of aloe (must be processed aloe!. Do NOT use fresh aloe!.

If you have any questions, ask the nurse, they will be able to check the ingredient list!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
