Answers:
It kind of depends on what you mean by palpitations!. You should actually check your pulse when you experience these episodes!. If your heart is going faster (more than 120 beats per minute) and you aren't working out--it could mean you have some sort of electrical disturbance in your heart!. If your heart rate is normal for you (so, check your pulse when you aren't having the palpitations too to know what is normal for you--usually 60-100 beats per minute), it is hard to say what is causing the "palpitations!." Either way, it doesn't sound too serious since you don't have any other symptoms, but you should have your doctor do an ECG (or EKG) and look at it for electrical disturbances!. If nothing pops up in the doctor's office that day, they can order an "event monitor" that will do an EKG when you have your symptoms!. It is very good that you aren't having any symptoms--concerning signs would be dizziness, light headedness, fingertips turning blue (when you are not cold), lips turning blue!.
PS--For years, I ignored the same symptoms in myself (even after I became a doctor), then one day, they went on for an hour and I had to do something about it!. The fix was a fairly benign procedure that didn't involve any real surgery--just a wire in the blood vessels to my heart!. I recommend you NOT ignore your symptoms and actually see your doctor--it's impossible to tell what it is without an EKG!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
