Answers:
The most one tends to use a stethoscope is during blood pressure assessment!. However, PTs who work in a cardiopulmonary unit might use one to do ascultation if that is their role!. Personally, our cardiopulmonary unit has a team of cardiac rehab technicians who focus on the cardiopulmonary function of patients after open heart surgery, heart attack etc!. THEY do the ascultation!. We still see the patients, but we are focusing on teaching the pateint how to do things such as get out of bed, improve their balance, etc!.
I rarely need a stethoscope, especially when electronic dynamaps are available and the patient is on a telemetry unit!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Some may use scopes!.!. There isn't much of a role for PT in the case of a heart attack until the patient is home and ready for cardiac rehab!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
