How contagious is Viral Meningitis for a child?!

Question: How contagious is Viral Meningitis for a child!?
A kid in my 4-year old's class who is very good friends with my son apparently got Viral Meningitis last week!. Obviously, the child was taken home and hasnt returned to school yet!. My son was fine, and has been fine, so I thought nothing of it!. This morning he woke up with a 102 fever, severe headache (so bad he's been crying about it all morning, and he's not really a cryer) and about an hour ago he vomited up the very little oatmeal he ate for breakfast this morning!.

Logically, I should be concerned, right!? I am taking him to the doctor at 1:00 (the earliest we could get an appointment) regardless, but should I be concerned or mention that this other kid has meningitis and was in contact with my son, even though it was a week ago!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Yes you should, viral menimgitis is very deadly not to mention extremely extremely contagious in kids from ages 2-9 but don't get me wrong grown-ups can get the disease to but kids are more succeptible beacause of their underdeveloped immune systems so you should be concerned!.

Glad that I can help!. Hope your son gets better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
