It would be a huge help if the entire family went on the same food plan!. That way one person doesn't think they are being persecuted because they happen to be being treated for a nasty disease!.

Diabetes DOES NOT kill even if you occasionally eat "cheat treats"!.

I plan in "cheat treats" to my stringent food plan also every week!. Today I had one of those highly illegal Pecan Cinnamon Bunns!!! a huge one too!!!

Since I am the cook here, everyone on the ranch has to eat what I can eat!. No exceptions!! They are all much healthier for eating my way!.

It helps me to stay with my low carb food plan to make everyone else live with it!. It will help your friend's little sister if her whole family will get with the program and eat only what she can eat!. And they will be much healthier all around if they do!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Lose the sugar!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your friend's sister needs to find out all she can about diabetes - ask the doctor, research on the internet, go to the library!.

Knowledge is power and that will calm her fears about her sister!. Diabetes can be a scary diagnosis, but just know that millions of people LIVE with it every day!. Live!. It takes some adjustment in lifestyle, but diabetics can live long and healthy lives!.

Sometimes losing weight is all that is needed to control one's blood sugar level!. Sometimes medication needs to be added!. If a diabetic keeps good control of their blood glucose and general health, there is no need to be concerned about dying from diabetes!.

Long term, uncontrolled diabetes can cause terrible health problems - blindness, loss of limbs, and even coma and death!. But your friend can help guide her sis and join her in a more healthful way of living!.

She shouldn't think of it as a sacrifice because following a healthier lifestyle will benefit her too!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

My sister is going through the same diet thing, and she needs to eat salads and and fruits for every meal!. Also, she ave was told to cut down on the sugar so she just turns to sugar free snacks and all that sort of stuff!. My step mom does have diabetes, and she cant eat most of the natural foods like watermelon!. So if your sisters friend just wants some normal food other than requested food, just make sure that they know what is in it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

For crying out loud!.!.!. CHILL OUT!

Diabetes is annoying as all get out in many ways, but it is not immediately fatal to most people!. Going off your diet once in a while does not mean a lot most of the time!. Heck- probably 75% of diabetics are not doing what their doctor would want them to!

The easiest thing!.!.!. get the whole family eating right and living right!. If there are no 'bad foods' in the pantry or being served, then she is OK and the rest of the family will be better off too!

Besides- we often find that unhealthy kids come from unhealthy adults!. It would not surprise me to find that her parents could benefit from a better lifestyle!

Workouts are usually a mistake for kids and most adults, especially if they are already overweight- too easy to blow off, cheat, ignore, overeat to compensate, etc!.

It is usually better for the family to take up more active activities!. Walking, playing with a dog, going to the park or pool, taking dance lessons, go biking, etc!. Choose things that are fun, and reward yourselves (as a group) for sticking to things- with non-food rewards!.

As a friend, you need to help too!. No going out for ice cream with them, or pestering them to get some popcorn at the movie, etc!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

it sounds like your friends sister is young and isnt taking the diabeties news too seriously!. its full of its ups and downs and its hard to change your habits overnight!. im 24 and i was diagnosed just 6 months ago!. at first i was scared to eat anything at all!. i lost 16 pounds very quickly!. before i was drinking mountain dew and energy drinks daily!. im a little over weight too!. im typically an active person so its hard to add exercise when im active and work 10 hours a day!. i just got a a1c test done and it was 5!.9 after 6 months which is really good my doctor says!. i pick and choose my foods!. my blood sugar is higher in the mornings and lower at night!. i eat really low carb food in the mornings and i stick to diet pops and sugar free drinks when working but i may exceed my 45 carbs for my lunch/dinner at nights!. you get to know your body and what you can do to control your blood sugars!. there are foods i can eat and foods that i cant even look at!. corn, watermelon, oatmeal, potatoes, to name a few i cant even look at!. but then i can splurge on ice cream and other treats on occasion and be ok!. it varies from person to person!.

it helps to have people support you!. i cook the meals in my house!. so i cook what i can eat and my boyfriend will either eat it with me or make something else!. most of the time he will eat what i make cause he is to lazy to cook lol!. i make big bowls of salads to munch on and i make little containers of mixed fruits and cut up veggies for those hunger attacks!. i also buy things like grainy crackers and 100 calorie pack snacks to binge on too!. low cal and low carb!. i have kept the 16 pounds off!.

encourage her by going to a park for walks and doing things that are more active!. dont stress her out cause it will cause her to binge more!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You didn't say which type of Diabetes she has, (type 1 or 2), but I can tell you this, pressure won't help!. I have the disease myself and its hard to live with, especially when the well meaning food police arrive!.

Try reading The Little Diabetes Book You Need to Read!. It helped me be a little less scared!. That's a first step!. Following the same plan would be encouraging, but not if she's going to do it reluctantly!. Misery does not love company!.

As for staying on the diet, make it a game!. Keeping her blood sugar down for simple rewards!. I usually go to a movie if I can do it for a week, buy a new outfit after a month!.

I know it's scary knowing something you eat could kill you, but that's true of anything!.!.!.people choke, walk in front of traffic, try not to panic and remember lots of people live with this disease!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
