Question: Would you let your children spend four hours at a home where a child living there has ringworm!?
I have a three year old, I am caring for a one year old and five year old brothers at there apartment!. I love the kids!. Problem is wasn't told that five year old boy has ringworm, all over his arms and legs (I mean alot)!. The aparment where I watch them has older rugs, and only two rooms so kids spend alot of time being close and touching same things!. My son has Very sensitive skin, and it is very hypoallergenic and fragile!. The kids mom does not wash the kids clothes or linens very often (like they were clothes three or four times before washing)!. My son started exhibiting signs of ringworm after we got home today, a small half circle and then I noticed a rash like thing on his back and smaller bumps!. I am freakin out!. I bathed him, myself, put on clean clothes, sprayed with lysol and am cleaning sheets!. I don't know what to do!. I love the kids I care for, but this is my son's health!. I made a dr!. appointment asap for tommorrow!. Should I care for the other children any longer!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

You should definitely keep your children away from a child that has been infected with ringworm! According to Wikipedia, it can be spread by touching the same object as someone else!. Even something as harmless as a hairbrush can spread the fungus!. To find out more, Google the word "ringworm" and then click on the Wikipedia link!. Answers to all of your questions, including the signs and symptoms of ringworm, can be found on this site!. Good luck!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

When you care for them try to clean them up some!. Wash thier sheets and clothes and etc!. Also talk to their mom about it tell her that she needs to keep a cleaner house if you are going to continue to watch them!. Explain to her how it is dangerous to you and your sons health!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Why are you asking others for approval!. If you feel that their apartment is causing health problems for the children, then no, I wouldn't take care of them unless the problem was cleaned up!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

ringworm isnt that big of a deal!. its a funguss!. put some anti-fungal cream on the spot till it goes away, and tell the ringworm kids mom that he cant come over until his ringworm is gone!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Question #1: No, of course not!.

Question #2: You should NOT care for these children!. They should be in isolation and in treatment!. You, yourself, may have already picked up the fungus so watch for the telltale rash!. Your own son should remain in isolation until the infection is resolved!. This is a superficial skin infection and there's no reason to freak out!. Normal hygiene is sufficient to keep tinea infections at bay and for existing tinea infections!. Other preventive measures to avoid and cope with corporis infections are cleaning and drying of clothing and hair brushes/combs before using again or by other persons, maintaining clean bathroom surfaces and thoroughly washing hands after touching any fungal infections or after giving corporis treatments to affected persons!. You don't need to wash your son's clothing, bath towels and bedding separately but be sure not to accidentally use his towels or let him use other poeple's towels, hats, brushes or combs while he's infected!.

my granddaughter caught ringworm from her mom letting her go to some kid party and was not told someone had ringworm!. It was in her head, my daughter took her for medical attention!. The doctor treated it with creams, antibiotics and hair shampoo, it has been about three months and her head has a bald spot!. Her hair fail out in that spot and it has been several months and her hair is slowly growing back!. My daughter does not let this girl watch her daughter anymore!. Some people just will not tell you when there child is sick!. You should not watch them until she gets her children treated and she throws out those rugs and cleans her apartment!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Do you actually know what ring worm is!? The children are not infected with actual worms!. It's a fungal infection of the skin!. Yes it is contagious but rest assure there are no worms inside the skin!. If your child does have ring worm he'll probably prescribe and anti-fungal cream!. As far as the other children go you need let their mother know the kids needs medical attention!. Ask your doctor who long ringworm is contagious for (after the medicine has been started)
Good luck and don't freak out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
