Cheap, diabetic friendly meals?!

Question: Cheap, diabetic friendly meals!?
I'm diabetic, and I'm really struggling to make it by, so the only foods I am generally able to get are foods that are mostly carbs and other things that just aren't good for diabetes!. With money being such an issue, is it possible to make meals that can feed three people, but also be diabetic friendly!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

i know how you feel!. i am going through the same thing!. what i try to do is shop the poor discount stores and stock up on veggies!. frozen and canned!. i make alot of chicken dishes!. chicken with veggies or grilled chicken with marinades!. tuna and fish are always good!. turkey is really cheap and you can use it just like hamburger meat!. i make my main dish some kind of protein, a veggie or two, then a not so good carb like potatoes, pasta, rice, etc to level it out!. you can also pair up meals with salads and soups!. grilled cheese and tomato soup!? turkey burgers!? shake and bake chicken!?

a lady on here had me make this and its going to sound wierd, but try it!. 1 cup ketchup, i can of diet coke, and 4 chicken breasts!. mix the diet coke and ketchup and use it as a marinade in a skillet!. add your chicken and cook on the stove top for like 45 minutes!. its AWESOME!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

As a diabetic, carbs are your worst enemy!! You should really try to limit things like bread, rice, pasta, and potatoes!. (I know its hard----these types of foods are everybody's favorites!.) The problem with carbs is that they are broken down in the body to become sugar!. (The basic carb units are monosaccharides, i!.e!. fructose, glucose, and galactose!.) You don't have to make special meals and you don't have to completely avoid carbs!. Instead of having 2 servings of spaghetti and a plate of salad, have 2 servings of salad (light on the dressing) and just 1 serving of spaghetti!.
You may want to ask your doctor about consulting a Nutritionist!. We have one on staff at the medical office where I work, and she has given a lot of good suggestions to our diabetic patients!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Including me!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am also in the same situation you are in and I find it difficult to find something that my whole family can eat as well as me so I don't have to make a special meal!. I try to eat a protein at each meal and when I don't have anything I will eat a tablespoon on peanut butter on a slice of whole wheat bread or whatever bread I have!. Also cheese is good!. I make a grilled cheese sandwich often!. My advice, ask your dietitian for ideas and like others here have said look on the pc for different ideas!. It can be done but it isn't easy!. I struggle with that everyday!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

it's pretty simple, yet I know that's sometimes easier said than done!. LOW CARB!.!.!. no matter what you do, eat low carb and you'll be fine!. Eat meat, eat green veggies!.!.!. avoid the bread!. If you eat bread, I suggest low carb bread!. it costs the same and your family will be none the wiser!. No potato's, no rice, no breaded foods, and easy on the fruit!. Never drink fruit juice!. Diet drinks only!. Avoid milk in quantity!.

So for a family meal, ground beef, green beans, a salad, and they can have rolls or garlic bread, but NOT YOU!. Or chicken, peas and brown rice (but I'd skip the rice)!.

There's 3 people in my house too, and I simply don't eat some of the things they do, but I eat extra veggies and bigger salads!.

hope that helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
