Can you donate blood if you are an insulin dependent type 1 diabetic?!

Question: Can you donate blood if you are an insulin dependent type 1 diabetic!?
Answers:
Yes you can!. I've been type 1 since 1 yr old!. I'm 39 yrs old and give every 6 months!.
I've been turned away a few times only because often my weight falls below 110lbs!.
People need to know their facts before giving out false information!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Most likely no, because of the amount of blood they need to remove!. I'm on the other end of the spectrum (hypoglycemic) and can't donate for my own safety (that and I stop bleeding before they can get that much out of me), although I don't know the effects would be on the recipient!. My guess - and I hate to guess so I'm sorry for that - is that a recipient would be fine!.

If that much blood is drawn your body will need to compensate and since it can't regulate blood glucose well then who knows what it will do (depending on where your starting point was when the drawing of blood began)!. It will probably not adjust at all, but you would have to check with your doctor to be absolutely sure!. You might be completely fine donating while other diabetics aren't!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

hahahahahaha lol!. your condition only affects you because your body cant not control it's own blood sugar witch is of no fault of the blood itself, in other words even if your blood sugar was dangerously low or way to high any other health body would simply begin dealing with it in a healthy manner!. diabetics would have a had time dealing with it if they got a transfusion of a batch of low blood sugar but if it's high and they're bleeding out the extra sugar content mite even help!.

yes, you can still donate blood if you are a type 1 diabetic!.!.!.!.that is, of course if you don't have any comorbidities like, Hepatitis B and anemia!.

As long as you're not underweight and your blood levels are all right(hemoglobin and hematocrit), then I think you're a fine candidate for blood donation!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I very highly doubt it, because losing blood will cause your blood sugar to go out of whack!. Your body will be producing more blood and more sugar to go with it, and being that your sugar is already out of whack, it may cause your body to produce more sugar than needed, or too little will be remade!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
