I am 15 and my freshman year I developed an eating disorder!. I am eating and am proud to say my bulimia has only affected me ONCE in about two months!. (in other words I haven't thrown up in a while) and I want to know (especily from people who have eating disorders) is it still normal to have to fight with myself everyday not to throw up!. I still am having a VERY hard time accepting my body!. Is this normal or am I not recovered!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yo never truly "recover" from an eating disorder or in a related problem an addiction (believe it or not the chemical reactions and physiological problems originate in the same part of the brain) While your Physical manifestations of the illness subside the underlying mental issues will persist!. The term "recovery" is never good when use in instances like this and is something that you are going to need to control the rest of your life!. Don't Fret though the controlling gets easier overtime and as for body issues the Love, caring, and compliments of loved ones will help you cope and control it!. Good luck!. I hope you get the better of this condition and don't let the media or the fashion industry mislead you into believing your body isn't good enough!.
As a guy and speaking from experience and a psychological survey and papers for my Masters degree in Psychology, most men prefer a more woman like physique with curves and proportions to the waifs we all see on television!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, the physicals side may be gone, but the mental side lingers!. I am a "recovered" anorexic who still struggles!.

Give it time though, this DOES get easier!.

Keep fighting!.

I hope you are in some sort of therapy or support group!.

Eating disorders ARE NOT just about weight, food ect, there is always a deeper underlining issue!. One that needs to be worked with and healed typically through therapy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, thats very normal!. Its the same with most things, like acholics, you are always recovering!. Just look towards the future and remember how well you have done!. Its good that you parents support you and you know that, dont be afraid to talk to them and ask for help when you feel like throwing up!. Good Luck:)Www@Answer-Health@Com

congratulations on fighting your eating disorder!. yes you will have to fight your disorder at least for while longer!. Is there any kind of after care at a clinic in your city!. You need a support group of other recovering eating disorder patients!. There is nothing like talking to other people who have your same problem and know what you are going throughWww@Answer-Health@Com

yes its very hard at first!. it seems like your doing a great job!.considering how hard it is to take control of the situation!. I think most people hate their own bodies!. They see their own bodies differently than other people do!. Your mind plays tricks on you!. so be careful not to fall for the trap!.Good LuckWww@Answer-Health@Com

Technically, you never fully recover, you just keep things under control, like the heroin addict or the alcoholic!. You have to really work and work and workWww@Answer-Health@Com

you have to keep fighting to fully get betterWww@Answer-Health@Com

I think all the responses here have been good!. I'd like to add: have you isolated specific events that make you anxious or self-conscious!? If you have done so, then you might try desensitization training if you haven't already done so!.

It involves visualizing the stressful event and at the same time scanning your body for tight muscles that belie a stress reaction!. You can train your mind to stop reacting in a hateful way toward yourself if you can make a visualization script out of it, and learn a deep muscle relaxation exercise!. Then, combine the two!.

Only visualize as far as you can take it one day, then the next day try a little farther!. If you get stuck, you can get help from a group or from a friend!. Visualize and consciously relax over and over again until your body no longer shows signs of stress over the event or thought!. The trick is to never take it too far, so that you don't panic and backslide!.

It will take a long time, that's normal!. Keep telling yourself how wonderful you are because you're taking control of your life!. Taking back control from your fears!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
