Question: I can't sleep - this is very abnormal what's causing it!?
I normally sleep around 10 pm cuz I am a very very active person!. But lately, it's been going on about two weeks now, I can't sleep until 5 am in the morning!. Sometimes I can't sleep so I just go through the day without any sleep at all!. I don't drink or eat anything with caffeine or anything that can keep me from sleeping!. I am a very very active person so I don't understand why I can't sleep!. Do you know whats causing this!? I didn't get any sleep at all last night so I just decided to go through the day without any!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have trouble falling asleep and staying asleep!. I'm an insomniac!. do you have trouble falling asleep, or if you do fall asleep, do you wake up and can't get back to sleep!? are you stressed out about anything in you're life ( besides not being able to sleep)!. talk to your doctor and tell him/her about your problem!. they can give you advice about sleep hygiene and ways you can relax and get to sleep!. sometimes an over the counter sleep medication can help, but only for a short period of time!. take care and good luck, and I do know how you feel!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try getting into a regular routine every night, just before you sleep!. Psychologically, performing this routine "tells" your body you're about to sleep!.!.!. I've been doing the same thing for YEARS (ie!. brush teeth, then wash face, then drink some water) and I fall asleep in less than 3 mins every night, no kidding!.

In your case, you already said you're not drinking caffeine, which is good!. You said you're active, so make sure you're not exercising too close to bed time!.

Question: when you don't sleep at all, do you sleep on time the next night!? For example, wil you sleep on time tonight because you didn't sleep last night!? If so, then my training in sleep medicine will make me believe there isn't anything to worry about!. If you still can't sleep tonight AND you're not sleepy, then you may want to see a doctor!. First he/she will probably have you make a log of your activities before you sleep (to make sure about caffeine/exercise)!. Next, you may have a referral to go to a sleep lab!. They will record some electrical signals from your body which will help determine where your exact sleep problem lies!.
