Can metformin cause tremors in your hands?!

Question: Can metformin cause tremors in your hands!?
I started taking metformin a few months ago after my insurance company refused to pay for the Byetta I was taking!. Since then I've noticeda slight tremor in my hands that wasn't there when I was taking only the Byetta!. My doc told me to quit taking the metformin which I've done and I've looked up the side effects but no tremors are listed!. My sister is also diabetic and she has tremors too!. Think it could be the metformin!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
metformin can cause trmors in 4 different theories
1-by causing hypoglycemia
2by causing hypoglycemia if use with alcohol or certain drugs or overdose
3 -metformin cause b12 vitamin defficancy and that can cause tremors
4-if used in renal failure asubstance released (uremia)that cause tremors and can cause lactic acidosis
finally the diabetic could has diabetic neuropathy or spinal problems or congestive heart failure or hepatic end stage or central nervous system insult condition !.that all cause tremorsWww@Answer-Health@Com

Some side effects of drugs are not listed!. Only the most usual are listed!.

You were taking Byetta alone with no other antidiabetes drug!?!? That stuff is supposed to be taken with oral medications of some sort!. If you go to the Byetta website and read all the info it says it is to be injected along with taking oral meds, but not with insulins!.

I know my tremors are caused by some other meds I am having to take!. I haven't noticed the tremors with the Metformin!.

But then again!! All formulations of Metformin are not equal!. Some manufacturers use different fillers in their medications and you might be sensitive to whatever filler is in the formulation you are getting!. The active ingredient is the same in all of them and is equal to Glucophage, but the fillers are all different!. They are all inert and considered safe for the majority!. But if, for instance, you would be sensitive to sulfa, you would want to be aware that it is the filler!.

Check with the pharmacist as to what the fillers in the Met are, then see if you can get a different formulation!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

This medication will causes tremors only if you forgot that you have already taken this medicine:

Seek emergency medical attention if you think you have used too much of this medicine!. You may have signs of low blood sugar, such as hunger, headache, confusion, irritability, drowsiness, weakness, dizziness, tremors, sweating, fast heartbeat, seizure (convulsions), fainting, or coma!. An overdose of metformin may cause a life-threatening condition called lactic acidosis!. Get emergency medical help if you have any of these symptoms of lactic acidosis: weakness, increasing sleepiness, slow heart rate, cold feeling, muscle pain, shortness of breath, stomach pain, feeling light-headed, and fainting!.
