What kind of food flares up acid reflux?!

Question: What kind of food flares up acid reflux!?
Answers:
Acidic foods and fatty foods can both effect esophageall reflux,as can smoking and over-eating!.
People with reflux or GERD (gastroesophageall reflux disease) are also advised to avoid alcohol, as that, above anything else, can worsen the symptoms!.

In GERD, the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) doesn't close tightly enough, and food and stomach acid return into the esophagus (reflux) which is not lined with cells that protect it from stomach acid, which is why it's usually so painful; alcohol causes the LES to loosen even more, causing the worst attacks!.

If you're asking about your own reflux, if you've suffered this regularly, for more than a few months and if you've not been prescribed anything for it, ask your doctor if he thinks you'd benefit from a proton-pump inhibitor (PPI), which work by lowering stomach acid more effectively than, and provide longer relief than, OTC antacids!.

Even though PPIs don't treat the cause of the problem (the malfunction of the LES), they do prevent the pain you feel when you do have reflux, as well as reducing damage to the esophagus!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
