My daughter was diagnosed with intermittent exotropia(the turning of one eye) Ho!

Question: My daughter was diagnosed with intermittent exotropia(the turning of one eye) How bad is this!?
I was first upset about the fact that she will probably need surgery, but online I've been reading that it effects kids that have brain disorders!. I am so scared that something more serious may be wrong with her!. Does anyone have more info on this condition!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

My son has esotropia as well!. Both eyes!. He had surgery when he was about 18 months old (I think it was)!.

The brain tunes out the eye that isn't seeing straight!. Hence reduced vision ability!. Also, there is the cosmetic factor!. Many times early surgery will be most successful!. Early as in age wise!.

While no surgery is minor - especially with our children - the healing time was rather low as I recall!.

Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is due to a muscle imbalance!. The surgery will correct the imbalance and straighten her eye!. You don't say how old she is, but if it is fixed at a younger age she will have better vision!. If you don't have it fixed, her "good" eye will take over her sight and the turned in one will have less responsibility!. She probably has double vision now because of the misplacement of her eyes!. I've seen many children with this condition and they are just fine in other ways!. There is a book for kids called, Everyone Has Different Eyes by Edie,,,,!. I can see the book in my mind, but I can't remember the author's last name, sorry!. Please have this fixed and give your daughter a fighting chance to succeed in life w/o being made fun of by other children!. Good luck Www@Answer-Health@Com

My idea is that it is wall eye; ask your doctor if it can be fixed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
