Can an mri give these results acurately with no past history of cancer or no oth!

Question: Can an mri give these results acurately with no past history of cancer or no other test done!?
MRI Impression:
There is a large nonspecific osseous lesion within the proximal humerus which includes both primary, benign, and malignant bone lesions as well as metastatic disease!. Consider bone scan and thin section CT for further evaluation!. Consider orthopedic consultation!. Location prediposes patient to pathological fracture!.

Had mri of neck and shoulder for two ruptured disk in neck last week!. Lesion was there in 02!. (seen in old x-ray)!. I have no symptoms to support above report!. Lesion found incidentally!.

Hello,

I think it might help to have a decipherment or de-coding of the medical jargon, although perhaps you know this already!.

My de-coding is: "Within the top end of the upper-arm, there is a large lump in the bone!. The pictures don't show clearly what the cause is!. It could be harmless, or if it is cancerous, then it could either be a primary cancer of the bone, or a secondary spread of cancer from somewhere else!. I advise a radio-active bone scan, and a CAT x-ray scan, to help decide!. I suggest the patient sees a specialist!. The lump weakens the bone, meaning that the upper arm bone could break at this point with minor injury!."

I agree that this is an incidental finding, but it is likely to be very real nonetheless!.

If you had it in 2002, that is very much against it being cancerous!. Also, if you have no symptoms, that is against it being inflammatory or infectious in origin!.

Yes, I believe this result is real and should be taken seriously!. Very possibly no treatment may be needed, but IMO you should get it fully checked out!.

I hope this is of some help!.

Best wishes,

Imaging techniques like MRI, CT, bone scans, x-rays etc!. only show the presence of an abnormality!. They usually cannot in and of themselves tell what the abnormality is, whether it is benign or not, or where it may have came from!. For that, you would need a biopsy!. Only a biopsy can definitively tell whether something is malignant or benign!.

That you don't have any history of cancer or symptoms makes it unlikely this is metastatic disease!. If the lesion has been there since 2002 and hasn't grown or anything, it probably isn't cancerous, but talk to your doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Glenster,

You and Elsie have asked this same question multiple times over the last week!.

When are you (or when is she) seeing a orthopedist to discuss the MRI report!?

There is not much more information you are going to get here!. You really need to be talking the the specialist!.

Best of luck,
