Why hepatitis patients pass white stools?!

Question: Why hepatitis patients pass white stools!?
Answers:
Hello,

I agree with the above!.

One of the liver's jobs is to get rid of waste product from the body!. It has a special tube with which to do this, which empties into the upper bowel!.

The waste product (the 'bile') happens to be brown- coloured, and the emptying of it into the upper bowel gives the digestion products from then onwards, their brown colour!.

White stools (without the brown waste-product) happen in inflammation of the liver (hepatitis), and also when the drainage tube out of the liver gets blocked, by gall stones or pancreas cancer!.

The brown colouration that doesn't appear in the bowel contents, appears in the skin instead, where it gives the skin a very yellow colour, or 'jaundice!.' This retained bile waste can also cause the skin to be very itchy, as well as very yellow!.

I hope this is of some help!.

The brown color of feces comes from a pigment called stercobilin, which comes from bilirubin, which is produced in the liver:

In certain kinds of hepatitis, the production of bilirubin is interrupted, leading to the lack of stercobilin in the feces!.
