It's rare, extraordinarily rare for elective surgery, and there is nothing you can do anyway, unless you are administering the anesthetic!.
If your Mom has a zillion medical problems that will make it difficult to give her anesthesia, you might discuss it with the anesthesiologist who will be taking care of her!. Otherwise, let the professionals do their jobs!.

I have a condition where it is very hard for the surgeons to get me to sleep and keep me asleep during surgery!. I started to wake up during a Gallbladder surgery many years ago, but they gave me more anesthesia and I was out again!. I alway's wake up as soon as I am off the anesthesia and never make it to the recovery roon still asleep!.

If your mom has never had any problem with for instance getting numb at the dentist or many medication don't work as they should, then she should not have any problem!. Just make sure the anesthesiologist is on top of things!. If your mom has had bad experiences before make sure she talks to the surgeon and the anesthesologist before her surgery!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
