Asthmatics, a question for you from another asthmatic....!

Question: Asthmatics, a question for you from another asthmatic!.!.!.!.
I have had asthma for about a year now, and I really have a hard time with it sometimes!. It is difficult for me to walk long distances without getting tired and out of breath!. I have asthma attacks during the night, sometimes really bad ones!. And my symptoms get worse during extremely hot and cold weather!.
If you have asthma, please tell me how asthma affects your own life!. Do you have really bad asthma attacks!? If so, how do you help yourself when you have an asthma attack!? What (besides a rescue inhaler) can make you feel better during an asthma attack!? Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
I've had asthma for 30 years, almost my whole life!. I have (knock on wood) been pretty healthy for the past several years, but as a kid was hospitalized several times, and was on daily meds (pills and inhalers) and frequently had to take steroid therapy (medrol and prednisone) for bad flare-ups!.

I found sticking to my daily regimen of preventive meds to be helpful in preventing attacks and keeping them from getting too bad!. And definitely go see the doc if you have an asthma attack that is really bad or drags on and on!.

Do your best to know and eliminate your environmental asthma triggers, such as pets, dust, mold, pollen, smoke, et cetera!. If you are having trouble with asthma at night when sleeping, you might want to either deeply clean or replace your mattress and bedding!. If they harbor dust mites (a major trigger), new bedding might help you sleep much better!. And if you have carpet in your room, switching to a hard floor might help with dust too!.

Many people also have exercise-induced asthma!. clearly eliminating exercise is not good, and will in the end make your lung health and capacity worse!. So, if this is you, talk to your doc and get an inhaler to use just before you exercise!. They really help (this is the main time I use an inhaler now)!.

And take some hope/satisfaction that many people "grow out" of asthma or see the symptoms disappear permanently or for decades, provided you take care of yourself!. I have not been on daily meds for almost 10 years, and find that I do pretty well; my sensitivity to smoke and animal dander has also been reduced!. My dad also has asthma and was off daily meds for probably off daily meds for 30 years, but as he got closer to 60, it started to get worse again!.

On non-medical fronts, make sure you drink plenty of water and other liquids, as you need to be well-hydrated to clear mucus!.

Hope this is helpful!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am young so I don;t know what use my info will be to you!. I haven't had an asthma attack in 10 years!. The last time I had an asthma attack it was a life/death situation!. I almost didnt make it out of the hospital alive!. That urged me to take my inhaler daily twice a day!. I also used Advair!. I stopped using it 3 years ago, and I was fine since!. Now when I feel the need to take a breath!. U pretend the air is my inhaler!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
