Question: Diabetes test!? please help me!.
my bestfriends dad has diabetes,
and i'm going to check my blood sugar with his poking thing ( haha!. )
Whats the normal blood sugar level!? And what's the level if you may have it or do!?
should i eat before i use it!? if not, how many hours should i not eat before i get it done!?
does getting poked hurt!? sorry, stupid question!.
i have some symptoms of diabetes so i'm getting
it checked with her dads thing!. :)

A fasting glucose (sugar) level is used to screen for diabetes, so do not eat for 8-12 hours prior to the test!. A reading of 70-99 is considered a "normal" fasting glucose!. A reading from 100 - 125 is "pre-diabetes" and above 126 indicates diabetes, in which case your doctor may recommend (after repeating the fasting glucose test) that you undergo a Glucose Tolerance Test!.
There is certainly no harm in going a glucose test yourself (and no, it doesn't hurt that much), but be sure to share the results with your doctor!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Take the test (it doesn't hurt very much at all - only if you expect it to!) first thing in the morning before you have eaten!. If your reading is over 100, and especially if it is over 110, you should make an appointment to see your doctor!.
You say that you have some symptoms of diabetes!. Perhaps you should discuss this with your doctor regardless of your blood sugar reading!. But let him know what your result was!.
Make sure your friend's dad administers the test - he probably knows best how his meter works, and can probably give you more advice depending on your result!.

when i was diagnosed 6 months ago the doctor did my test with a glucose meter thing that your talking about!. i went to the doctor not even complaining about diabeties!. i had ate 3 hours prior to my apointment!. they tested me and i was at 280!. my doctor said anything below 120 would have been ok!. so i was eat dinner and test 2 hours after and see if you fall below 120!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
A normal person should have a blood sugar of around 5-7!. Maybe even 4-8!. It shouldn't matter what you eat because a person without diabetes should have a pancreas that would produce the right amount of insulin for what you've eat!. The pricker is more of a surpise than pain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Doing a blood sugar test is not a way to test for diabetes!. You have to go to the lab on a doctors' request and get poked and pee every 20 minutes or so!. I was there for 5 hours!. It really sucked!.

An empty stomach from the night before, 1st blood test done, drink lucazade and wait 2 hours and 2nd blood test done!. It can hurt as its a needle you are using and reading should be around 4, have you never heard people saying Don't Share Needles!.!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
