Answers:
Well, I eat a banana, an apple, a half cup of apricots, and two tomatoes a day!. Fructose does not require insulin in order to be utilized by the body, so it is not like eating pure sugar!. It has a glycemic index of a mere 19 whereas table sugar is 65 and pure glucose has a glycemic index of 100!.

Believe it or not, consuming an 8 ounce apple requires far less insulin for the body to utilize the carbohydrates than an 8 ounce potato does!. Plus, the apple has lots more nutrients!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Currently, the recommended servings of fruit per day for a diabetic is the same for anyone - at least 2 servings of fruit and 5 servings of vegetables per day!.

If your Grandfather wants to eat more, then that's great because fruit is alot better for him than alot of other snacks on the market!.
I would get him to check his blood glucose level after eating certain fruits to make sure that it doesn't raise his BGL too much!. If it does maybe he could just reduce his portion sizes a little!.

Like your grandfather, I love fruit!. In fact, my lunch is usually a fruit medley - some watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew and grapes!. I like to have a tomato in the afternoon and fruit again with my supper - I add a banana because of RLS!. Just have him check his sugar after eating and be sure he isn't overdoing!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Not too much!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
