Spine pain....could it be cancer!

Question: Spine pain!.!.!.!.could it be cancer
Hi,
I'm a 15 year old boy and for about three years I have been having back and chest pain!. It all started with a slight pain in my left chest, mainly when I lay on that side!. Over time it has become worse and the pain radiates from my back to my chest!. I've been to the doctors a few times with it, and they just do an examination and say its nothing to sinister!.

Once the pain was pretty bad so I went to accident and emergency!. I saw a Doctor and I said I thought it could be spine cancer!. He sent me for an x-ray(chest only) and did some heart tests!. He then taped my spine hard all the way up and asked if I felt any pain!. He then made me do some exercises like bending over and asked if it hurt!. It didnt!.

He said it could be a nerve problem but it was not spine cancer!. Is he right or should I go to another doctor!?

Answers:
The fact that you have had this pain for three years essentially rules out a malignancy being the cause!. Once a malignant disease is large enough to cause symptoms, it is going to progress and become obvious well within that three year time span!.

Also, being 15 makes a malignancy in the spine very low on the list of possible causes for a chronic back pain!. This is far more likely to be a musculoskeletal problem!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would go to another doctor!. A doctor should never say a problem COULD be nerve problems or something else!. A doctor needs to make a determined diagnosis!. Go to another doctor and get a definate diagnoses so you can get the proper treatment for your condition!. Don't be afraid to ask a doctor questions!. That is the docs job!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Check out a chiropractor and massage therapist!. In conjunction they can cure nerve problems and misalignment issues!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Chest/back pain has many causes, the pain might be related to inflammation of the membranes surrounding the lungs or the heart, usually you will have increased pain when you swallow!.
Did the doctor suggest taking anti-inflammatory ibuprofen (Advil) or naproxen (Aleve)
Acid reflux can cause chest and back pain, take an antacid and see if it helps relieve your symptoms!.
They only did a chest x-ray!.!.!.chest/back pain can also be from neck or spine problems, get x-ray's to find out or to rule them out or your neck and spine could be out of line, go to a chiropractor for an adjustment!.
Breathing too fast and/or coughing a lot can strain the muscles and cause pain in the chest and back!.
Panic attacks can also cause chest and back pain!.
