Can a 16-slice CT be used for a Heart Diagnostic scan?!
Question: Can a 16-slice CT be used for a Heart Diagnostic scan!?
A local hospital is advertising a 64-slice CT heart diagnostic scan!. I was wondering if a 16-slice CT scan is acceptable for diagnosing heart risks or if there aren't enough images!. Obviously 64 would be preferable, but can a heart diagnostic/screening be done with a 16-slice CT!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
Answers:
No, it is not really "acceptable", since there is little to no accuracy and the amount of radiation is about 3 times as much as a 64-Slice scanner!.
The best scanner for this type of scanning, heart scan, is an EBT scanner, which is FDA approved and has over 18 years of research supporting it!. 64-slice, although fairly accurate, still does not match up with EBT and still produces about 3 times amount of radiation for the same job!. 16-slice produces about 10 times amount of radiation for the same work!.
See if you can find an EBT scanner where you live, if not a 64-slice is the next best thing!. Stay away from 16, it is not a good tool!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
