I have had this and it is a real nightmare, you really just cannot do sport and you probably shouldn't unless it is swimming or something!. You probably won't need surgery unless it is torn, and if you can be patient, it will eventually heal on its own!. It takes a long time (at least a few months if not longer) because the blood supply to the tendon is poor but it does eventually heal!. the only thing is, once you have started getting achilles tendonitis, it may well re-occur so you might have to start stretching your calf muscle every day and alter your exercise regime!. Good luck though! You might be absolutely fine! People are different!. Icing is good, as is strapping it up and wearing a bandage!. Also don't wear flat shoes as these strain the tendon further!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

ususallyt the doctor willl put you on crutches and bandage it and say to ice it a lot and keep OFF of it!.

Wearing supportive well made shoes is very important!.

The pain from achillies tendon can be VERY painful!. I have had both of them very inflammed and I could hardly wlak!. I would massage them which hurt but felt good however my understanding is that this is bad for them!.

It's a difficult tendon to heal esp becuase they cant ussualy inject it as that cn rupture it but styaing off of it is impoortant so it can heal!.

You should go to see a podiatrist or orthopedists so they can officialy figure out the problem and than see what needs to be done!. It's not likely that surgery is needed unless it was torn and you would likely know that!.!.!.

SOunds painful, I think you need to get a diagnosis from a GP to determine whether you need surgery or not!.
There might be some pain relief creams out
