Answers:
OUCH!! That sounds like a severe case of strep!. Your best bet would be motrin/ibuprofen for pain!. Give the antibiotics 24 to 48 hours to initially kick in!. If you don't feel better after 48 hours maximum call the doctor back!. Usually most good, all around antibiotics will work on strep, even penicillin!. If on penn especially be sure you go back for a culture when off the antibiotics for three to four days but you should be on them for a full ten days especially with that severe of a throat infection!. Don't stop them even if you're feelng better!. Finish the entire prescription unless the doc changes the antibiotic!.

Which antibiotic did the doctor prescribe!?

Did they do a culture to be sure it's strep!? If not they should have prior to dispensing antibiotics!. Once you begin taking them the culture is no longer accurate until off them a few days!. Do follow up and have them re culture after you're off them about four days!.

I hope you're feeling better very soon!. Try to rest up, take Motrin as often as the label tells you (every 4 to 6 hrs I assume, I take prescription strength Motrin!.) It should work much better than Tylenol!.

Wishing you the best of health, get well soon!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can try advil or tylenol!. If they dont work I would go to the hospital tonight, and tell them and see if they will give you something stronger for the pain!. Take your antibiotics with you!.
There is a chance the antibiotics wont work, dependant upon the bacteria you have and the bacteria the antibiotic is supposed to treat!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well I would assume that the antibiotics would work since the doctor knows what he is doing and that they are also known as "miracle drugs"

I didn't have this as severe as you did but eat some "Halls" They're hard candy you suck on like Jolly Ranchers!. They relieved the pain in my throat

The duration it takes for an anti-biotic to work depends on the anti-biotic!. However, to releave some of the pain, try gargling with warm salt water!. Put some table salt into a cup of warm water and stir it up!. Gargle, spit, repeat!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

-Don't drink cold fluids!.
-try gargling warm water with salt(it helps remove the bacteria out of your throat)
-drink fluids such as tea!.

that's all I can basically suggest!.
