Swollen lymph nodes.. Cause for concern?!

Question: Swollen lymph nodes!.!. Cause for concern!?
I have several swollen lymph nodes!. They're not huge, but they are still oversized!. One behind my ear, one just in front of my ear and one along the gum ridge under my tongue!. I went to see my doctor when I first noticed them, and she told me that it was probably due to a recent ear infection I'd had, and that they'd go back to normal size soon!. That was 2 years ago!. They haven't changed in size at all!. Should I go back to the doctor again!? (I'm 21 by the way)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
2 years is definately long enough for an inflammatory node to decrease in size!. Also, where they are in different areas, this is concerning as well because each node drains a different part of the head, so with three different ones present, I would recommend followup with a physician!. There are labs that can be done, and probably an ultrasound of these nodes to better see if they should be of concern to you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A lymph node that is rapidly growing over one to two days has a different cause and treatment than generalized swelling of lymph nodes that occurs over a few months!. Express your concerns with your doctor at the time of examination because this helps to establish a diagnosis and give you reassurance!.
Standard treatment for swollen lymph nodes may include pain relievers and medicine to lower a fever, such as ibuprofen and acetaminophen!. Warm compresses and elevation may help swelling go away!.
If the cause of the swelling is infection, the doctor may prescribe antibiotics or antiviral medications!.
If there is a localized abscess, it may need to be drained by cutting open the skin and then filling the opening with packing!.
For swelling due to malignancy, the treatment might be surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy!.
If you have an immune disorder, you may be prescribed medication to help with the disease!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

By now, they should have returned to normal size!. There may be a blockage or some other cause, including vitamin deficiency, low grade infection, etc!. Time to get tests run!. If your doctor disagrees, get a second opinion!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
