Strep Throat/ER question.!
Question: Strep Throat/ER question!.
Ok so I'm pretty sure I have strep throat!. My throat has hurt since Friday night and my fever got to 103!.3, I was so dizzy that I couldn't get out of bed!. And today it still hurts, like I'm swallowing razor blades!.!.!. anyways!.!.!.
So my friend is taking me to the ER later tonight, and I was wondering if I do have strep, if they would give me the medicine there to start to make it feel better!.!.!. and I don't have insurance and I don't have any money to pay for the prescription, so if I tell them, is there anything they can do about it!? I don't have any money until Thursday, and I really don't want to wait that long to have this go away!. I can't even eat because it hurts to much, and it hurts a lot to even drink!.!.!. =/Www@Answer-Health@Com

If they diagnose strep the antibiotics are not that expensive!. I doubt they will fill them for you for nothing but it depends on the type of hospital it is, public or private!. They might have samples to get you going!.
Our health care system stinks today, for the patients and the doctors!. Doctors aren't paid the way they used to be and patients pay a fortune for health insurance with not always the best coverage, high co pays and some are managed care!. I fortunately have a PPO that has no co pay for the ER and pay only $5 for an in network doctor!. I wish everyone had the plan I have!. I can go out of network at 80 percent!.
Motrin is your best bet for the fever but you might not want to take it right before the ER, you want them to see how high your fever is so they will treat you because of how ill your are!.
If the prescription is a generic is should be very reasonable!. It could be $10 or under, up to maybe $20 tops is my guess!. Hopefully they have some samples for you to begin with!.

Yes they can give you a shot of penicillin in the ER!.However you will still have to get the script filled on Thursday when you get paid as you will also be give a prescription for antibiotics!.If you tell the examining Er doctor you have no cash he can arrange for a 3 day shot to be given and added to your bill!.The shot alone wont cure it and you will need to take the full dose of pills he gives you to fill--,just because the symptoms go away does not mean the strep is gone!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Okay, you probably have strep throat but you can go to Meijer to get your prescription, they have a lot of antibiotics that are free to those without insurance!. They may give you a minor pain med in the ER to help with the pain, can also take tylenol or Motrin to help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
If you're in the ER they'll give you the medication and then bill you later!.
