Studies reveal that patients have lived to 65 years or older and appeared to have died of causes unrelated to pectus excavatum, the oldest being 91 years!. Twenty-one patients died between the ages of 14 and 65 years and were found to have coexisting conditions or syndromes!. Six patients were between the ages of 1 and 4 years upon death!. One of the 6 died in 1947 because of complications from pectus repair!. No autopsied patient with pectus excavatum died between the ages of 5 and 14 years!. Eighteen were infants younger than 1 year, and all 18 died because of conditions unrelated to pectus excavatum!.

It is possible that you could pass on the pectus excavatum on to your children!.

Don't know which country you are in, but insurance SHOULD cover this sickness!.

If people make fun of you because of this, just ignore them!. It just shows these people are ignorant to make fun of you!.

You could have surgery or at least talk to a surgeon who does this kind of surgery to determine what your options are!.

GOOD LUCK, and try to keep a positive outlook!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

From a goole image search, I've learned a little already-apparently there are a couple of surgical choices, a steel apparatus inserted, or cartilage and rib re-arrangement!. Plastic surgery may be involved for a more 'finished' appearance!. You may or may not have a genetic reason for your condition, I'll let you research that yourself, one UK article stated that one in three hundred Brits have this to some extent!. Insurance coverage!? Sorry, I have no clue, but best of luck to you in this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well if it hasn't bugged you much it probably wont bug you much now you should search it up and ask a doctoron linee or look on google and if you haveinsurancee it most likely will pay and in my opinion any plastic surgery is a bad idea Www@Answer-Health@Com

There's no reason to believe you'll have a short life!. Only your doctor can answer most of your questions, ask him!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
