Question: An aorta aneurysm surgery done on a
An aorta anurisim surgery on an 81 yr old woman with her adreanl system comprimised by prednisone for 36 yrs and now on 8 mil a day since we almost lost her end of Jan 2008!.We almost lost her when the Dr clipped her WPW!. She really has been in decent health her whole life except the pred for hardening of the arteries!. She can NEVER they say go off the prednisone!.
The DRs said she is at 4!.9 right now in size!. Last Nove 2007 it was a 2!.7 (!?)!.
Would they go up the groin, or cut her down the middle!.
She is 5'3" she would say and maybe 125 lbs!.
Please be honest on her chances, I kinda figured out the answer but!.!.I want a professional opinion!.

my grandma had a ruptured
aneuysm in her brain!.!.!.
i'm sorry,
not to sound blunt but,
i think it depends on the hospital
and the skills of the doctors!.
my grandma almost died
at a local hospital
then they had to send her to methodist
and they saved her life!.
so i think she has good chances
at a good hospital!.

i just don't know how to say it!.
but i'll be sure to keep her

The method of fixing the aneurysm is mainly determined by the shape and location of the aneurysm, not by the size (in cm)!. It needs to be away from the renals (kidney arteries) and not too angulated ('bent')!.
If it has grown from 2!.7 cm to 4!.9cm in a year, it's time to look at getting it fixed!. Her surgeon will make sure that she gets the extra steroids she'll need around the surgery!.
Make sure she's seeing a board certified, experienced vascular surgeon!. The mroe experience, the better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The aneurysm is growing too fast to ignore!. It needs to be repaired!. If it bursts she won't make it to the hospital, it goes that fast!.
My husband had one repaired earlier this year and they went through the groin but we were told that could change mid operation if things weren't going as planned!.
