Everyone, please take this question seriously!. I don't want any "yea, ur Grandma's gonna die" crap!. I want only sincere help for this one!.

My Grandmother is probably the sharpest woman I know!. She constantly recalls memories/stories and has always been very smart!. The other day, she made some brownies!. These are the same brownies that she's made ever since I can remember!. The recipe calls for two cups of sugar, and she only put one!. Today, she made cookies, and didn't put enough flour!. She recognized her mistakes, and I think she's a little down about it!. It just worries me though!.!.!.could this be super early signs of Alzheimer's or Dementia!? Maybe I'm overreacting!. But I'm worried!. Can anyone share their personal experiences with stuff like this!? Thank you so much for your help!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
The short answer is yes, she could be showing very early signs of Alzheimer's!. Often times people with alzheimer's forget things so they will make up things to fill in the gaps!.

For example:

A man is sitting in his home and realizes that he needs to pay a bill!. He reaches into his pocket to look for his wallet and finds it missing!. The man might say that someone stole his wallet because he doesn't remember that he never put it in his pocket!. He just knows that it is not there!.

A doctor can rule out other sources of forgetfullness for your grandmother!. You should encourage her to see her physician!. There are excellent medications available to people that help slow the progression of alzheimer's disease!. Aricept, Namenda & Excellon are a few!.

Once the disease progresses, it is usually hard to convince patients to see a doctor!. They are unable to rationalize or don't want to belive it!.

AD is a horrible disease!. Take it from me, I am the manager of an alzheimer's unit in a nursing home!. Nursing AD patients back to health isn't an option!. It's best to catch and treat the disease early on!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
