My father had cancer and he had become quite ill, doctors decided not to treat h!


Question: My father had cancer and he had become quite ill, doctors decided not to treat him, he was 74!.
He had Muliple Mylomea and had become quite ill and also recently had kidney failure but had received dialysis!. Doctors decided that they were not going to treat him anymore but make him comfortable as they felt he only had days or a week to live, can they do this!? Not give treatment!? He did die afew days later!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

My dad was the sam with stomach cancer age 76, they said there was nothing they could do but give him pain killers, the said he had a few months left but died within a few weeks, his kidneys had been affected and when this happens nothing can be done, the body starts to shut down all the organs!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i know what you mean my father-in-law died of lung Cancer they kept him in the hospital for about a week to run test and stuff like that it was to late the cancer had spread so much that they couldn't do anything for him just help with the pain they wanted to keep him in the hospital but he wanted to go home!.
They said he had 6 months to live he died within 2 weeks of learing of the cancer!.
I think if they can't do anything for them then that is there way of saying it!.

Yes, doctors are required to *first do no harm*, and sometime treatment is doing harm!. When cancer reaches a certain stage the best treatment becomes pallative treatment!. So his doctors did give him treatment!.!.!.they just didn't put him through unnecessary medical treatment that would have no benefit and would have made his final days even more pain filled!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
