An insulin pump is a machine that is attatched to you, it delivers insulin to you!. It's so much easier, instead of taking shots every time you eat, all you have to do is press a few buttons and it will deliver insulin to you right away!. You still have to take shots, but only once every 3 days!. but it is much riskier, because you don't have any long acting insulin once you start the pump, so it has to deliver a small amount of fast acting insulin every few minutes, this is called the background insulin!. that's why when you first start pumping, you must test your blood sugars all the time!. Its also why you shouldn't have your pump disconnected for more than an hour!. Oh and you can disconnect it like when you need to shower etc!.

There are lots of different brands!. Animas, Medtronic, Deltec, OmniPod, to name a few!. Depends on what your comfortable with!. I have the deltec, i Love the built in glucose meter!. Research them and see what you like!. There are also the different infusion sets!. Comfort shorts are good if your very active and don't want the infusion set to rip out, they go in at an angle, so they're real sturdy, but the problem is they're a little long!. The cleo infusion sets are short needles, and don't hurt at all! But they go straight in so they're not quite as stable!.

It depends what kind of insurance you have, but I'm guessing if ur under 21, most likely your insurance will cover it, I've never heard of any payment plans, usually insurance pays!.

I've been on the pump since June and my blood sugars have been great! I seriously recommend getting a pump, it's like an electronic pancreas! I just love mine!Www@Answer-Health@Com

my good friend had one for a while and i think she might get one again but all i know is that you attach it to your skin like your arm/stomach/back and it gives you insulin whe you need it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
