Question: How do I get my grandpa to try to quit smoking!?
My grandpa has been smoking for a pretty long time!.I want him to stop before something serious happens to him!.Please help me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Good luck honey!. All you can do it tell him that you want him around for a LONG time and to please try for YOU sake!. You need him to be your rock and someone you can depend on and to please try!.
Usually addictions are hard to give up and they take over!.!.!.!.some will give it up and some won't!. Even if they know it isn't good for him!.
I just read at the hospital today (husband was getting a heart cath) !.!.!.this is from the booklet I have right here!.!.!.and it says!.!.
" the benefits of going smoke free is the first year after quitting the risk of heart attack is cut in half!.!.after 5 years of smoke free!.!.!.it is the same as if you never smoked!. Smoking is the BIGGEST culprit of heart attacks and it is preventable!" One out of every five die from smoke related heart attacks!
Tell you grandpa that!.!.!.and we will pray he can take control and do it for YOU if not for himself!.

As you said your grandpa has been doing this for a long time!. He's probably addicted to them!. Most smokers want to quit!. Why not start talking to your grandfather and really try to understand about his smoking!. Ask him questions as to when he started!? What reasons did he start smoking!? Has he ever quit!? Has he ever wanted to quit!? What does he think prevents him from quitting!. I'm sure your grandfather loves you as much as you obviously love him!. Perhaps, by looking at it through his eyes, and asking pertinent questions, he can move closer to the point where he puts them down forever!. Best wishes to both of you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
