My 6 yr old was diagnosed with Henoch-Schonlein Purpura (UK answers)!

Question: My 6 yr old was diagnosed with Henoch-Schonlein Purpura (UK answers)
at start of the year, my son had a high temperature and a cold but was very feverish !.three weeks later he started to be covered in what appeared to be an allergic reaction lots of bumpy red blotches!. I was suspicious as they did not itch and piriton off the GP did not take it away!.

Then the skin changed to lots of pin prick spots that did not go away when pharmacy covered it with the glass tests!. (Purpura )!. Fearing the chance of meningitis but thinking no as he is otherwise well!.!.!.but taking no chances, I immediatly went to dr at that stage in a bit of a panic with son, outwardly, I tried to remain calm !. Dr referred him to childrens ward that evening!. A blood test showed the HSP result was positive!.

He had urine sticks and BP was normal thankfully!.

I admit, I had never heard of it at all I know know its an auto immune disorder were the body thinks good cells are bad and kills them off and its usually short lived and never comes back!.

Did your child make a spontaneous recovery and never take a 2nd outbreak again!? He will be monitored for one year!. I have never met known any other children who went onto develop this after a common cold virus!. did your child need kidney tests!?

Thanks to anyone who replies, who has had a child with symptoms and for your perspectives!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I was diagnosed with this illness when I was 8 (so about 10 years ago)!. It was a reaction to a penicillin allergy, and at first we thought it was meningitis because the rash is the same!.

The worst thing was that my joints became swollen and I became crippled until they got the medication right!. I was given steroids and once they began to work, within days the swellings went down!. It was pretty frightening but I made a full recovery!.

Doctors monitored me for a year, but I haven't had a single outbreak or sign of an outbreak since!. I was pretty lucky cos the doctor identified the problem immediately!.

If there's anything else you want to know from an actual sufferer, feel free to ask!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
