Answers:
Don't listen to warped scaremongering statistics like this!.
It probably would be the same as smoking 70 cigarettes IF you stood above a busy freeway and took deep breaths for 24 hours a day 7 days a week for about 100 years!!!
This is how twisted statistics can become and only nutters, Sun-readers and George-Bush-believers should add it to their armoury!.
How does the phrase go!?
Lies, damned lies and statistics!

GOVERNMENTAL AND MEDIA STATISTICIANS ARE LOWLIFES!.
THEY SCARE PEOPLE INTO WORRYING ABOUT NOTHING IMPORTANT AND NOT WORRYING ABOUT THE IMPORTANT THINGS!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

probably!.!.!.and what most wont admit is that smoking is not nearly as hazardous as air pollution, because of the size of the particulates involved!.!.!.!.

some info
August!. That's when the winds change direction, blowing in foul air from the heavily industrialized Hebei province and trapping it against the surrounding mountains!. A recent study by US and Chinese researchers, using the most advanced atmospheric models, found that up to 70 percent of Beijing's summer particulate pollution originates outside the city!. In other words, you could shut down the city, close the highways, turn off the power, and still have a seriously bad air day!.

Randy Wilber is an air pollution connoisseur!. Senior sport physiologist for the US Olympic Committee, he has made five trips to Beijing since March 2006, lugging an air-quality monitor to all 31 Olympic venues!. The city's atmosphere, he says tactfully, is "significantly worse" than that of Los Angeles, the US standard for big-city pollution!. Then there's the heat!. In August, Wilber recorded daytime temperatures consistently in the 90s, with relative humidity approaching 95 percent!. "For endurance events," he says, "that's borderline hazardous!." His overall assessment: "Not good!."

Not anymore, they got that under control for the Olympics!. But the athletes have been provided with masks just in case!.
It's true all big cities are bad, but you got to look at that China is still a developing country much like Mexico and so the air quality is much lower, than a developed city!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Comparisons of that sort are problematic, but it's not out of the question -- people in today's United States don't know how bad pollution can be without controls!.

Check out these spectacular satellite images -- they compare sulfur dioxide in the US and Europe (the two left hand images) to sulfur dioxide in China:

People in China really are dying of this stuff (air pollution kills here too, but at a much lower rate)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

it's not that bad!. people just want to speculate because it's china!. the air quality in NYC, MExico City, LA is just as bad!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

That's a naughty comparison! The analogy is atrocious!Www@Answer-Health@Com

i doubt it the air is supposed to b under control there this week!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
