Most major hospitals have sleep labs!. There may be sleep clinics out there too!. If you are overweight and you snore loudly and stop breathing periodically then bingo! You probably have it!. If your spouse can stay up to listen to you snore it isn't hard to tell if you have spells of apnea, which isn't a trivial problem as it can lead to heart problems and other serious medical conditions!.
What they do is wire you up so they can track your brain waves, your eye movements and your breathing!. I was quite a sight when I did it!. Two nice old Polish ladies monitored me overnight at the hospital!. Insurance will often pay for it if you are diagnosed with daytime sleepiness!. It took one night to establish that I had sleep apnea and then another night to determine the best settings for the bipap machine I got!. It takes some getting used to the hose, the mask, and the compressor and all that but I do sleep better now!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

talk to your doctor about ordering a sleep study!. they will set it up!. Mine was at the hospital, in their sleep disorder clinic!. I got there about 800 p!.m!. and they wired me up and watched me on video and montiored me through the wires!. Now I have a wonderful wookilar device, but I feel great, have more energy and better sex drive, and feel a lot more rested even after just 4 or five hours on my machine!. many hospitals have sleep apnea clinics in them now and others the clinic is separate - either way, you'll likely need to be referred there from a primary care physician or a pulmonary specialist so the best thing to do is see your doctorWww@Answer-Health@Com
Call an Ear Nose and Throat Dr!. He can refer you!. Doesn't have to be associated with a hospital!. Mine was at a sleep center across the street from my ENT doc!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
