Confused over HIV testing!

Question: Confused over HIV testing
I was raped about 3 months ago!. After about 2 months, I got a full STD scan, including HIV!. I had read that the test isn't conclusive until 3 months, but I got it anyway to calm my nerves!. All of my results were negative!.

I went back after another month (today) and re-took the HIV test!. It came back negative!.

But the nurse told me that HIV tests are considered inconclusive until 6 months! That's not what I've read elsewhere, but it's really got me nervous now!.

Is this true!? Are my other tests irrelevant!? Is there a real chance I could still have HIV even with a negative test at 2 and 3 months!?

Please someone help me!. And don't lecture me about condoms!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The correct answer to this question is YES, 3 months is conclusive and there is no question about it!. But there are some people with weak immune systems like people who are using drugs to treat cancer or for organ transplant!. For these people, anti-body shows later in their system!.

I assume you are not in that category so your test is conclusive!. Congratulations, you are HIV free!. Move on with your life and always use protection if you do not know the status of your partner!.

Talk to your doctor and he is going to tell you the same thing!. If you need more information, take a look at doctors' comments in www!.medhelp!.net!. simply go to HIV Prevention forum and you will find the same info there!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The confusion comes from the small percentage of people who will not test positive until six months!. I believe at three months 97 percent will test positive and 6 months 99 percent!. Even the test manufacturer (Orasure) recommends only a 3 month wait!. But the CDC stands by the 6 month just to be safe!. There is only a marginal chance that you have HIV and it will not show up until 6 months!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

i wouldnt stress over it!.its only gonna make you sick!.trust me i worry about everything!get tested again ok!.ive made a few dumb mistakes in my passed that i worried so much and found out everything was fine!just pray and god will make sure you are fine!i have faith and it wasnt your fault! I'm so sorry for such a horrible experience!. Yes, the window of accuracy is 6 months, so you will have to be tested again!. Continue every six months thereafter if you take on other partners!. Again, I'm sorry about that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i have also heard and read on numerous occasions that an HIV test isn't fully conclusive until 6 months!. apparently the virus, in some cases, doesn't show up in testing until after 6 months!. so, sadly, even though your early tests are negative, there's still a small chance that you could potentially be carrying it!. however, there's also a bigger chance that you don't have it!. i'm so sorry this is something you have to deal with, but it's good that you talked to someone and got tested for other things in the mean time!. i wouldn't stress too much!. you could be okay! but, i would definitely go back at 6 months and get tested for a final time, just to be safe and cover your bases!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
