CAN A DIABETIC EAT RICE!

Question: CAN A DIABETIC EAT RICE
Answers:
Yes!.!.!.but a diabetic should try to avoid it when possible!. Rice has natural starches/carbs which turn into "sugars"!.!.!.!. If you want rice then it is BEST to keep a very close eye on your blood sugar level before AND after you eat it to know how YOUR body reacts!. Wild or brown rice isn't "as bad"!. The same goes for potato or actually any "white" foods EXCEPT cauliflower!.!.!.!. It can be used as "mashed potato" or "rice"!. Just season as you would the same way, just mash it up!. VERY delicious and good for you too!.!.!.!.

As a general rule, type 2 diabetics can eat pretty much any type of sugary or starchy food!. It's just that the proportions are likely to be smaller than for people without elevated blood glucose!. In the case of rice, the following link indicates that a cup of long grain white rice contains 44!.5 grams of carbohydrate!. For a diabetic with a target of 45 grams of carbs per meal, just the single cup of rice blows the entire carb allotment for the entire meal!. No wonder that diabetics are likely to cut down to 1/3 to 1/2 cup of rice so that they can eat another serving of carbohydrate in some other type of food at the same meal!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

who is the idiot that is giving the people that said no thumbs down!. As a diabetic the answer is pretty much no!. Sure i could have a bite but i dont consider that "eating rice" it will elevate your blood sugar and you have guidelines for how many TOTAL carbs a meal can contain!. Rice would be all you could eat and it would be like 1/4 of a cup!. So no you should not eat that because it is all you can eat and it has no nutrition!. But Non-Diabetics should stay away from this highly over processed fiber stripped food alsoWww@Answer-Health@Com

I can't!. It set my blood sugar THROUGH THE ROOF!!

Rice is a very concentrated starch!. Starch is what is called a Complex Carbohydrate!. It is just one or two steps above a sugar!. So eating too much starch ALSO raises blood sugars!.

in my case I seem to be extra sensitive to rice!. Means I can no longer go to some of my favorite Chinese, Mexican, and Sushi bar restaurants!. Damn!

Corn and Wheat are also sources of starches, so a diabetic also needs to watch how much breads (including crackers, tortillas, and pitas) they eat!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

My friend can! I cannot!! it depends on what the rice does to your glucose level!. Prepare a serving, test your glucose, eat the rice, test again 90 minutes to 2 hours after eating and see where your glucose went!. If it spikes it more than 50 points is is really worth the effort to have the rice in your diet plan!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
