I seriously think I might have diabetes. Does anyone agree or disagree!

Question: I seriously think I might have diabetes!. Does anyone agree or disagree
In the past year and a half I have gained about 100 pounds!. It was partly due to medication (I recently fixed that problem), and it was also due to the fact that I was bored (became home-schooled) so I ate quite a bit, and I quit playing sports, so my activity level was pretty much zero!. Anyway, I have recently lost almost 30 pounds and I am really proud of myself for it!. However, I have been experiencing some problems that I think might have something to do with diabetes, which I have a family history of, sad to say!.

I have been having the intense thirst, frequent urination (probably due to me drinking A LOT of water), and I've been getting frequent headaches, and my feet hurt alot (perhaps only due to excess weight)!. I also have been having pain around my rib area and I was told that it might be a swollen spleen and it might have something to with diabetes!. I don't want to sound paranoid or anything, but I just really want to know what you guys think!. Either way, I am going to the doctor soon to get checked out!. Thanks in advance for all your answers!.

God bless!

You could be right!.

Ask the doctor to peform a HbA1C (or just A1C) test, Most doctors can perform this test in their office in 5-10 minutes!. Otherwise, the'll need to take a blood sample and send it to a lab!.

The results on the A1C test should be between 5 and 6, if you are normal!.

If the reaing is above 7 (like 7!.3 or 8 or 10), then the doctor should also perform a Glucose Tolerance Test!. This is a more complicated test, and will require you to stay in the doctors office for 2-3 hours!. After this test, the doctor can definately tell you YES or NO if you are diabetic!.

Symptoms of a diabetic person:
a) sudden weight loss - a few kilos
b) urine attracts ants
c) always very thirsty

If huge amount of food and the person cannot produce enough insulin to convert the food into energy, then he will have to remove the substance by urination!. The urine will contain high sugar that attracts the ants!.

You can always see a doctor and do a blood test on sugar level to find out if you are diabetic!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You say you are being home schooled, so I guess you are younger say pre-20's!.

You need to see a Doctor and get this thirst and other symptoms checked out!.

Get more exercise, eat more fiber, no white flour, lots of vegetables, small portions of meat!. It all sounds like a drag, but it's a lifestyle change that keeps you alive!.

Best of luck at the Doctor, and get plenty of Diabetes information so you can ask questions!. But Doctor first !Www@Answer-Health@Com

Diabetes isn't as simple as that to recognise, that's why we say "see your doctor"
I mysef have a very high sugar count but, it's always been high and we have the same problem in our family!. Only your doctor can tell you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes go to the Dr!. he is the only one that can tell you for sure, but do tell him that diabetes runs in the family!. Have him give you a blood test Its the way they tell how your sugars are doing!. And by the way good job on the weight loss, that is hard so thumbs up to you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You don't state your age typically juvenile (type 1s) lose weight no matter how much they eat!. You really should consult a doctor to be sure!. Best of Luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It sounds like you might!. You should have your blood sugar checked!. Good luck with your visit to the doctor, I hope all goes well!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Disregard all other answers as they are partial truths, or totally incorrect!. All you need to do is buy a glucometer and check a fasting blood sugar in the morning when you first wake up!. If you blood sugar is greater than 110, then you need to have a 2hour glucose tolerance test!. Your doctor will know!. Alternatively they can check your hemoglobin A1C, which is a test to see what your average blood suga is over a three month preiod!. It should be less than 7!. Weight gain is rarely a sign of new onset diabetes, unless you are over 40 and have developed Type 2 diabetes, which is due to Insulin resistance, not lossed production of insulin, which is Type 1 diabetes mellitus!. You cannot "develop" diabetes at your age by being less active, so just go get checked and find out for sure!.!.!.!.gl!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Before I was diagnoised:

I had gained about 15 lbs!. I looked swollen, I didn't feel good, I was tired all the time, thristy, had dry mouth, frequent urination, and then out of nowhere I lost about 30 lbs in one month without dieting or exercising!. Then I was starting to get blurred vision and headaches!. So I went to my doctor for a check up and he ordered a fasting blood test!. My results were 275 fasting!. I am now type 2 diabetic, treated with oral medication with diet and exercise!. If you are diagnoised with diabetes it is controlable!. Don't go buy a meter and diagnoise yourself, go to your doctor!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try eating more veggies, less carbs (bread, grains, rice, starches like potatoes), eat more meat and eggs especially!. Protein helps with insulin sensitivity!. See if your symptoms improve!.

It's quite possible you have pre-diabetic symptoms but you don't have to live with it, it's not something you're doomed to have!. Diabetes can be cured and people have cured it with diet!. I urge you to check out a book called The Paleo Diet by Loren Cordain!. It's really been life changing for people who have read it!. If you think you have diabetes, check it out, it talks about diabetes in the book, among other diseases, illnesses, etc!. that are affected by diet!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Two simple blood tests would have told you if you have diabetes!. The first is a fasting glucose and the second is an A1C!. On the fasting glucose anything over 100 can be considered diabetes!. On the A1C anything over 7 can be considered to be diabetes!. I am sure the doctor will order these two tests!. Stay away from starches and sugars!. No candy!. No coke or other soft drinks that have sweeteners!. Keep your weight down!. Should you have diabetes then do everything that the doctor tells you to do!.!.!.without fail!. Diabetes often leads to other diseases which can be worse than diabetes!.!.!.!.like peripheral neuropathy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
