Question: Recoverng from anorexia and my metabolism
im anorexic and after going through this for about 4 months now, my therapist and i have finally worked me to a point where i am ready to start recovery!. i dont want this disorder anymore but im deathly scared of gaining weight!. i know in recovery i will gain weight, but i dont want to gain more then i need to and im scared that my body will gain too much weight because it will try and store everything due to starvation mode!. im 14 years old, i dk if that effects the metabolism at all, but will my metabolism go back to normal!? or will i get really fat because my body is in starvation mode!?
if it goes back to normal, how long will it take!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hello!. I delt with eating disorders as well!. First- yes your metabolism will go back to normal!. It is going to talke some time- I dont know how much time because everyone is different!. You are going to gain some weight and you need to talk to your theripist about how to handel that!. Even when they are healthy pounds its going to be hard!. It has been years for me since I have had eating issues and I still catch myself having moments where I dont see things properly!. (like I dont like simply the number on the scale- or I compaire myself to someone who is CLEARLY larger than myself!. I am very glad that you are working twords a better, healther you! That is great- but stick with it! First of all please consider throwing anly scales that you have away in your home!. I know that it sounds like a frighting thing to do for you because its a form of security- but you are a person- not a number- and yourself worth should not be wrapped up in a number! Dont forget that a two different people that are the same heigth and weight can look compleatly different!. One of them can look thin and slender and one can look overweight and unhealthy!. You need to start eating healthy foods- gain good weight and do some moderate activity you keep your muscles strong!. When you feel weak and like slipping remember what can happen to your body when you starve itself!. It does more than just screw up your metabolisim!. It messes with your female cycle, your muscles, bone growth, immne system, skin, hair growth, organ funtion, consintration memory, heart functon!.!.!. I could go on and on!. Another thing I would recomend- find a female athleate that you admire for being strong and together!. Then take some time- look at a picture of her and see how beautiful she is with out being super skinny!. Please take care of yourself!. I don't think that anyone can know for sure if your metabolism will go back to normal, but I predict that it will due to your age!. You are still growing, and so your biochemistry is still changing!. I really do think that you have the chance to "fix" your metabolism!.

Also, you most likely won't get really fat if you can learn to eat "normally!." I recommend to start some strength training soon, so you can try to gain some lean muscle mass rather than all fat!. And don't worry, girls don't bulk up! If you don't like lifting weights though, exercises like power yoga or pilates are a few alternatives to get your body toned up!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well im recovering from an eating disorder too and i havent gained but i have lost!. but i was at a high weight and eating healthy and regularly speeded up my metabolism and stoped me from binging!. i too am scared about gaining weight but now i have lost i have combated that fear!. but you have ana which means your most likely under weight so you will gain but they will get you to a point where you are at an healthy weight for you and your happy with it then they will help you maintain it so you dont go overboard!. because your body is in starvation mode you should come onto food in a very slow way!.!.

start wid jucies
then liduids
then fruits and ved
then meats
then other thing

but do everything gradualy so the weight doesnt pile on!.
