Has anyone gotton oral thrush from antibiotics?!

Question: Has anyone gotton oral thrush from antibiotics!?
Okay so I was on antibiotics and ended up with oral thrush!. They put me on nystatin (swish and swallow) and after two doses my tongue swelled up and became almost rippley down the sides of my tongue it looked awfull! So I went back into the doctors and they said I had an allergic reaction and put me on clotrimazole wich is a tablet you stick on your tongue and it slowly dissolves!. I was just wondering if anyone else has had the oral thrush and what they took!. Also I was wondering if anyone else has takin the clotrimazole and what the results were!. Please help! (im starting not to trust these doctors much)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Oh my Heavens, that sounds horrible!. I know EXACTLY how you feel!. Every single time I am prescribed amoxicillian I get oral thrush and H-O-L-Y-Y does it hurt!. I had it so bad once I literally could not eat for days!.

And by all means call your doctor and tell him/her you want diflucan (yes, it's usually prescribed for yeast infections), it works in like two days and it's one pill, that's it!!! IT'S AWESOME!!!!! I ALWAYS have my MD give me a script for it when I get antibiotics!!!

I believe my husband had the clotrimzole given to him once and I don't believe it worked he took it to "numb" his tounge and had to use the nystatin (like 4x a day) too!

I just can't tell you how sorry I am - having this is HORRIBLE!!!!

Know this: CHOCOLATE will make it WORSE
YOGUART will make it BETTER

Let the yoguart sit on your tounge with each spoonful!. It makes it feel so much better, but it doesn't last!.

And finally, ask them not to give you this particular antibiotic again or one in its family!.

I TRULY hope this helps!. I really feel for you, take care and get better!!!

GOOD LUCK!. Don't be shy with the docs tell them what you want and don't take no!. You DO NOT have to live with this for over a week!. Been there, done that!!!!! :(

(PS: sorry so long!.)

Just read the 1st answer again!. !. !.please DO NOT just "trust your docs"!. They are NOT perfect and not always the best or most helpful!. This is very uncomfortable and you DON'T have to live with it!. Doctors make mistakes EVERYDAY they are human and we should all ask questions and be educated, informed and not afraid to ask!. That's what they're there for, even if they don't think so!. I truly cannot tell you how many times things would have been done/handled wrong or not tried something else or told to "live" with it - if I did not ask questions or insist!. Sorry again to babble but come on!. !. !.this isn't 30-40 years ago - they just aren't what they use to be (sometimes) - this is NOT a downer on doctors!. You just have to watch out for yourself and loved ones!. There is a healthcare crisis in America for a reason!. No one has the time they need to truly help everyone!. We have to be educated and cautious!.

Relax!

Antibiotics kill bacteria, specific bacteria keep fungi in your body under control, so a fungal, or yeast infection, is not uncommon when taking antibiotics!.

Some people are allergic to certain anti-fungal medications, so it is routine for the doctor to switch to another med!. The same is true of antibiotics, or any medication for that matter!.

Let the clotrimazole do its job, and be glad there are multiple meds for oral thrush!.

A fungal infection can be a tough one to beat down, so it takes a little time!.

Trust your docs!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
