Answers:
You'll end up between 10 and 20 times more likely to develop lung cancer than someone who doesn't smoke!. The risk increases the longer you smoke, and the more cigarettes you smoke!.

The good news is that quitting at any time starts to lower your risk of lung cancer, but it will never reduce to the same as if you'd never smoked!.

As an example, 10 years after quitting smoking, your lung cancer risk will drop to about half what it would be if you continued smoking!.

15 years after quitting smoking, it will almost be normal (but it will never quite get there)!.

A word of caution: you're also a diabetic!. Being both a smoker and diabetic gives you pretty significant risks if you ever have to have surgery!. You would be very likely to have significantly longer wound healing times and other complications!. My wife is actually a surgeon and sees these problems in hospital all the time!. OK, you can't do much about the diabetes other than manage it carefully!. But the smoking you certainly can!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Quit now and in a few years your chances of getting lung cancer will be the same as someone who never smoked at all!.
Very bad combination - smoking and juvenile onset diabetes - - not so much for cancer as for vascular problems!.
The diabetes does not increase your lung cancer risk!.
But please stop smoking!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
